Kent Free Trees Scheme  - Begins Mid July

This scheme offers individuals and organisations up to 25 native trees each, free of charge. All you have to do is collect them, plant them and care for them as they grow.

The council has approved its Statement of Accounts for 2009-10 .

The accounts remain subject to audit. The Statement of Accounts, as it is required to be produced, is a technical document. Therefore it is highly recommended that reference is made to the Explanatory Foreword section in the Statement (pages 1 to 8) for a straightforward description of some of the key financial issues.

Shepway District Council’s resolution to approve expansion plans for London Ashford Airport (Lydd) has been called in by the government. 

This means a public inquiry will now decide whether or not the airport can extend its runway and build a new terminal building. Details of the date, venue and arrangements for the inquiry have not yet been finalised by the Planning Inspectorate but will be announced shortly.
