The accounts remain subject to audit. The Statement of Accounts, as it is required to be produced, is a technical document. Therefore it is highly recommended that reference is made to the Explanatory Foreword section in the Statement (pages 1 to 8) for a straightforward description of some of the key financial issues. This means a public inquiry will now decide whether or not the airport can extend its runway and build a new terminal building. Details of the date, venue and arrangements for the inquiry have not yet been finalised by the Planning Inspectorate but will be announced shortly.
